Drummer Robert Jospe guests on Living Time Wednesday Nov 7th, 8 pm

Popular area drummer and band leader Robert Jospe will talk with Gary about the upcoming Inner Rhythm performance at The Southern, Friday November 9th. The concert, sponsored by The Charlottesville Jazz Society, begins at 8 pm, following an opening set at 7 pm by pianist Art Wheeler. Besides Jospe, Inner Rhythm features Jeff Decker on saxophones, Bob Hallahan on keyboards, and Randall Pharr on electric and acoustic bass. The band combines Latin, funk, swing, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms into a modern jazz sound that is exciting and uplifting. Jospe also is a member of the jazz faculty at the University of Virginia, playing drums with The Free Bridge Quintet. He has brought his World Beat Workshop program, which includes Richmond area percussionist Kevin Davis, to over a hundred elementary and middle schools around the state of Virginia. Jospe also conducts a program called Rhythm and Resilience, offered once a month on the second Sunday of the month as a free community program for all ages, helping people develop skills for coping with stress and improve quality of life through hand drumming, breathing and stretching.
