Darrin Bradbury & the Unemployed will stop by during the first hour of the Cosmic American Jamboree this Wednesday, September 19, for a visit with Lonesome George. They are bound to play a few off their debut release, Wilbur Mountain. This Friday night they will be performing at the Orange House in Charlottesville.
For the past five years Darrin Bradbury was the chief songwriter in a regionally popular NJ,NY band called Big Wilson River. In 2011 they were voted the Number 1 emerging Alt Folk Band (Critics Choice) by New York Deli Magazine, and the number 7 Emerging band (Readers Choice, out of 150 bands). Their Album "Octopus" made appearances on a quite a few NY, NJ local "Best of 2011" lists. They toured relentlessly over five years averaging about 125 gigs a year, Colleges, House Parties, Legit Venues, you name it.....they were there. The band is currently on a well needed hiatus until Thanksgiving.
For the past 4 months he's been touring out of his Ford Focus, making stops at farms, colleges, and clubs. Then about two weeks ago, Darrin and his band returned to New York to cut a proper solo touring record, They cut the record over two days during a 10 day club stint in the New York Metropolitan area, It was a pretty fly by night project so the only prerequisite required was being Unemployed; hence the band name. The album features Riad Azar on the Box Drum, and Mike Fabano on lead guitar.
