Blue O'Connell

Tune in to Eclectic Woman Show Thursday, September 9, 2010 to hear local singer/songwriter, Certified Music Practitioner and former WTJU radio announcer (now a sub) Blue O’Connell.

Blue will be playing new compositions from her forthcoming CD, “Mystery Guest” that is due for completion sometime next spring. She will also be talking about her participation in the Folklife Apprenticeship Program this year studying with a master Galax-style dulcimer player. The mountain dulcimer is one of the only indigenous instruments of America as other instruments in American music came over from other countries. The Galax dulcimer is a regional Appalachian style named after the area of Virginia where it originated. It is a rare & unique style of dulcimer playing –tune in and learn more about it!
