Bridge of Music

Noel Keane, Pat Egan, Alex Caton, and Matty Metcalfe will be putting on a special concert Saturday evening, August 9, at C’Ville Coffee in Charlottesville.  Before they put on this “Bridge of Music from the West of Ireland to the Mountains of Virginia”, all four will stop by WTJU Friday afternoon, August 8, around 12:30 for a visit with World Turning host Seth Swingle.  With four such talented musicians on hand, live music should be definitely be in (and on) the air!

Noel Keane – Irish button accordion magician. Noel can play most any instrument he picks up. Has been referred to as the “John Entwhistle”of the Keane Family who are considered music royalty in Ireland. Noel is here from County Galway Ireland and will be just after being in concert with brother Sean Keane at the Lowell Folk Festival on the 26 and 27th of July.

Pat Egan – guitar virtuoso originally from County Tipperary in Ireland is now a resident of Virginia bringing his own recipe of Irish guitar mixed with Old time Appalachian and Americana. Pat tours and records regularly these days with Alex Caton.

Alex Caton – who has been described as, “…the siren of the strings.” C-ville, June 2007. She is a multi- instrumentalist and singer who specializes in the both Irish and Appalachian Old Time music. Alex plays Fiddle, Banjo and various other instruments according to her fancy.

Matty Metcalfe – the fellow who we all know and love who can play anything from classical piano to Cajun Rock, and not surprisingly, IRISH and APPALACHIAN TUNES! He plays guitar, piano, piano accordion, banjo and who knows how many other instruments!
