Frank Lacy and his 10³²K trio

The Charlottesville Jazz Society and The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center combine to present veteran trombonist Frank Lacy with his new 10³²K trio, featuring Andrew Drury on percussion and  Kevin Ray on bass.  Lacy was a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and has many recordings to his credit. The Sobel 4tet, Charlottesville’s own Gina Sobel’s 4-piece jazz ensemble, equals fresh jazz. The young quartet plays original music informed and inspired by the greats as well as contemporary, vernacular influences – a little swing, a little funk and a little something else. The group just recorded their first record of original music, and will be performing live at the Rockfish Lounge on Friday September 19th at 7pm.

Loaves & Fishes needs volunteers to feed the needy

Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, a non-profit that gives groceries to over 1,200 low-income families per month, is in need of volunteers to assist with bagging groceries and distributing food.  No experience is necessary.  Join in the mission of Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors and help the less fortunate in our community.  To volunteer or for more information, emailvolunteers@cvilleloavesandfishes.org or call 434-996-7868.
