Loaves & Fishes needs volunteers to feed the needy

Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, a non-profit that gives groceries to over 1,200 low-income families per month, is in need of volunteers to assist with bagging groceries and distributing food.  No experience is necessary.  Join in the mission of Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors and help the less fortunate in our community.  To volunteer or for more information, email volunteers@cvilleloavesandfishes.org or call 434-996-7868.

Meals on Wheels needs drivers! Drivers typically drive one route a week at lunch time, delivering meals to neighbors in need. Clients look forward to receiving a hot meal and seeing a smiling face each day! This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, businesses or organizations. The Women’s Initiative is a non-profit organization that provides effective counseling, social support and education to empower underserved women in the Charlottesville community. The agency is in need of volunteer psychotherapists. Register For Citizenship Classes

Do you want to become a U.S. citizen? Central Virginia Citizenship Services can help. Citizenship classes to help you prepare for the interview and test begin on Tuesday, January 27th in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Registration begins Monday, January 5th. These low-cost immigration services accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals include initial consultation, completion and submission of forms, and follow-up as needed. McGuffey in January

The new January exhibits at McGuffey will be here soon. Through the month of January, you can view the works of Marti Mocahbee and Phillip Nolley. In a  show called Transcending Material, the artists have created sculptural and functional transformations of ordinary materials into unexpected objects. The mediums are clay, glass, metal, wood and paper. There will also be a new members show going on in January. For more information, call 434-295-7973.
