Women’s Choir 30th Annual Benefit Concert

The Charlottesville Women’s Choir will hold its 30thAnnual Spring Benefit Concert on Sunday, June 1st, at 4:30 p.m., at the HAVEN at the corner of 1st and Market Streets in Charlottesville. The Choir, started in 1984 with a half dozen women, currently has 28 women singers.  The 30th anniversary concert will feature songs from a repertoire of the past 30 years with themes of women’s rights, peace, social justice, and environmental awareness, everything from the political “Nicaragua”  and “Nana was a Suffragette” to a folk piece, “By the Waters of Babylon,”  and the comic “Girl Shoes.”  Sharing in the proceeds from this event will be the Barrett Early Learning Center, created in 1935 and the longest running day care center in Virginia.  For ticket and other information, call 434-971-5813.
