Special Programs During The Holiday Season
With the December holidays upon us, we will maintain this page to keep you apprised of any special programs coming up on WTJU.
Tuesday, December 13, 7-9 pm (est): A Time For Singing will include Christmas Cantatas, either in whole or excerpts, as well as Gerald Finzi’s “Dies Natalis”, Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata”, Ralph Vaughn Williams’ “Hodie”, and Nils Lindberg’s “Chritsmas Cantata for Big band soprano, baritone and chorus”.
Wednesday, December 14, 12-2 pm (est): Radio Tropicale will air an encore edition of a 2014 Our Lady of Guadalupe feature from host and producer Bruce Penner.
Friday, December 16, 8-9 pm (est): The Old-Time Snake Milkers on Lambeth Live – Open to the public
Saturday, December 17, 8-9 pm (est): Gather ‘Round airs a holiday concert with banjo maestro Tony Trischka.
Sunday, December 18, 12-2 pm (est): Christmas Stories and Tunes on Tell Us A Tale

Tuesday, December 20, 12-2 pm (est): The Eclectic Woman Show will play songs for the season. An eclectic mix, as always, with a heavy emphasis on the peace and goodwill aspect of the holidays. There will be sweet, soulful songs and a taste of rockin’ around the Christmas tree, which may or may not have a five-pound box of money under it.
Tuesday, December 20, 7-9 pm (est): A Time For Singing will include Christmas Cantatas, as well as opera favorites such as the final act of Cherevichki by Tchaikovsky, and the Christmas Eve plaza scene from La Boheme.
Saturday, December 24, 9-11 pm (est): Groove Tube looks back at the 10th anniversary of James Brown’s passing.

Sunday, December 25, 12-2 pm (est): Hanukkah Stories and Tunes on Tell Us A Tale
Tuesday, December 27, 7-9 pm (est): A Time For Singing will include a Christmas cool down/Hanukkah ramp up featuring a traditional Service reading by some of the worlds most famous cantors and some modern Hebrew/Yiddish art song.
Wednesday, December 28, 9-11 pm (est): Jewish Jazz” for Hanukkah – Join Gary on Living Time Wednesday night from 9 to 11 for some modern jazz versions of traditional Jewish melodies, in celebration of Hanukkah. Listen for music by John Zorn, Steven Bernstein, Jenny Scheinman and other great interpreters of these beautiful tunes.
Friday, December 30, 8-9 pm (est): Sons of Pitches on Lambeth Live – Open to the public
