Adam & I Visit Folk & Beyond, Nov 12

Nashville duo Adam & I will stop by the WTJU studios this Thursday afternoon, November 12, around 4:30 (est) for a visit to Folk & Beyond.  They have a few shows in the area, including one that same evening at Firefly in Charlottesville (details).

Adam & I are Adam & Andrea Melia, a compellingly fresh young duo from Nashville, TN. Capturing the unique energy of current americana styles, while giving a joyful nod to the sounds of the 50’s and 60’s, Adam & I make a music all their own. The duo formed in 2011 and started releasing music for free via NoiseTrade.

In Fall of 2013, Adam & I recorded their first full-length album – Adam & I – which released on February 11, 2014. John Apice of No Depression called the self-titled album a “simple, stripped down old-fashioned inspired folk journey brought up to date — superbly and with discreet panache.” The album features singles We Have Love, If I’m Taken, and Honey I’ll Take the Fall for Loving You. No Country for New Nashville’s Kurtis Dickerson reviewed We Have Love as “a prime example of the light delight that comes from the trust in one’s companion in the face of despair” and described their live performance as “reminiscent of the playful banter and clever song-weaving of The Civil Wars.” American Songwriter exclusively premiered the music video for If I’m Taken in July 2014, with Music News Nashville calling the track “emotionally powerful.” July also saw the duo release a new (non-album) single, These Days Sunshine which was featured as “New and Notable” on NoiseTrade.

Adam & I spent most of 2014 and the first months of 2015 on their Our House Has Wheels Tour, playing over 70 shows throughout the United States. In March and April of 2015 the duo rented a house in Warrenton, VA to record the follow-up to their self-titled release, an EP entitled Meanwhile in Virginia. Released on July 10th, 2015, No Depression’s John Apice calls the five song EP “some of the finest duo folk-rock, alt-country songwriting I’ve heard in awhile” and “improved on their original duo style” of their first record.
