25 years on the throne: “King of Instruments” celebrates anniversary

The booming introduction to “The King of Instruments” show on WTJU leaves little doubt why the organ holds that nickname.

The music starts with a soft breath of sound and builds toward a thunderous crescendo. By the time it gives way to Michael Latsko’s warm welcome, one can only wonder what possibly could come next.

For 25 years, the answer to that question has been the best organ music ever composed, as played on the finest instruments in the world.

“It seems like only yesterday that I began what has turned out to be the thing I’ve done longest in my life – except, maybe, for breathing,” said Michael.

Join Michael for his on-air anniversary celebrations: two Sundays in a row, 6 – 7 p.m. on both June 3 & 10. Tune in at 91.1 FM or online at wtju.net.
