The original Mods were heavily influenced by style and fashion, listened to modern jazz, ska, and rhythm and blues, wore form-fitting suits and rode Vespa or Lambretta motor scooters. We will focus our exploration on the early-mid 1960s Mods, who were listening to British bands such as The Who, The Small Faces, The Creation, The Action, The Smoke, John's Children, as well as The Kinks and The Yardbirds. Take a trip into this amphetamine-fueled British era of music and style that refused to comply with the prevailing majority, with your honorary rock DJ, Brian Keena, host of The Jazz Messenger show.
